What does the Catholic Church say about human trafficking?
The Catholic Church is against human trafficking and all forms of slavery. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church "The seventh commandment forbids acts or enterprises that for any reason...lead to the enslavement of human beings, to their being bought, sold and exchanged like merchandise, in disregard for their personal dignity" (Catholic Church). In the Committee on Migration's Statement on Human Trafficking written by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, it states that "Human trafficking is a horrific crime against the basic dignity and rights of the human person. All efforts must be expended to end it" (USCCB). If you are interested in learning more about the USCCB's Anti-Trafficking Program, the link is below. The Catholic Church is against human trafficking and is taking steps to try to prevent it.
